TANGO CLASSES IN VALENCIA

La Cultural is a tango academy in Valencia with classes for all levels: beginner groups, an intermediate-advanced group, stage tango and private lessons. You learn in a friendly atmosphere with a clear point of reference: the milonga we hold every Friday and open practices such as El Gotancito, where you can put what you have learned into practice.

If you have never danced tango, this is your starting point. In the beginner group you learn the foundations of the dance, step by step and without rushing:

• The embrace and posture, so you feel comfortable and stable from day one.
• The walk, the basis of all tango, with its axis, balance and weight changes.
• Basic steps and first figures, such as the salida, the ocho and the simple turn.
• Leading and following: how to propose and how to listen to your partner.
• A first approach to the music, so you can move to the beat and tell tango, vals and milonga apart.
• The rules of the dance floor, so your first time at a milonga is a calm one.

No previous experience is needed. There are three beginner classes a week: Mondays from 21:00 to 22:00 and Thursdays and Fridays from 20:00 to 21:00. The Friday class ends just before our milonga, so you can dance what you have learned that very night.

For those who already master the basics and want to take the next step. In the intermediate-advanced group we deepen technique and the richness of the dance:

• Turns, pivots and axis work with more precision and control.
• Ochos, embellishments and changes of direction with fluency.
• Improvisation resources, such as sacadas and combinations, so you do not depend on memorised sequences.
• Advanced musicality: pauses, changes of rhythm and the differences between tango, vals and milonga.
• Connection and communication in the embrace, to dance comfortably with different partners.

A group designed to gain ease and personality on the dance floor. It meets on Mondays from 20:00 to 21:00.

Stage tango (tango escenario) is the version of tango designed for the stage: broad movements, choreography, projection and presence. It is a class for those who want to explore dance as a performance, prepare a show or simply work on their technique from another perspective. The group meets on Wednesdays from 21:00 to 22:00.

If you prefer your own pace, a private lesson lets you work on exactly what you need: starting from scratch, preparing for a special occasion, correcting your technique, overcoming a block or rehearsing a choreography. They are offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 10:00 to 19:00, at a time to be agreed.
